A limousine ride on your wedding day adds a level of both excitement and luxury that few other elements will. But what should you bring to enjoy during the actual ride? Snacks and beverages are a great part of the experience, but the wrong choices can ruin your fun. So what should you be sure to pack? Here are a few do's and don'ts for the nuptial limo.
1. Bring Finger Foods
This suggestion might seem obvious, but make sure you bring primarily - or solely - foods that can be eaten without added flatware or dishes. Appetizer-sized foods are a good choice because they are tasty, require no flatware, and are easy to hold onto. They're also some of the simplest foods to pack in containers for transport to and from the car.
Rather than simply pack some pigs-in-blankets or chips, look for unique and fun appetizers that fit in with the theme of your wedding. Have cake pops in your wedding colors or sliders that feature your planned meat dish. You could even ask the caterer to come up with some appetizers that serve as a preview of signature wedding dinner or dessert elements.
2. Keep It Clean
If you are riding in the limo while partially or fully dressed for the wedding, you must try to limit any possible spills and stains. Remember, the car will be in motion and people will be excitable.
Avoid foods that have a lot of sauces, require dipping, or have fillings that could easily escape. If you do provide dips, opt for more solid choices like hummus or guacamole rather than runny sauces like salsa or chocolate.
No matter what food you provide, include accessories to keep your guests - and the car - clean. Pack a picnic basket with a few non-breakable plates or bowls, napkins, plastic flatware, and seal-able containers if anyone wants to take something to go.
3. Pack Healthy, Filling Snacks
Many wedding couples, as well as their attendants and close family members, fail to eat properly on the big day - often from nerves or simply from being too busy. You can counteract this by providing wedding day snacks in the car. And don't forget to keep everyone hydrated with plenty of bottled water and low-sugar, non-alcoholic beverage choices.
To provide a good meal to anyone who might otherwise forget to eat, opt for healthy, filling choices. This could include things like nuts, cheeses, vegetable sticks, or finger sandwiches. Be cautious with fruits, as many of these need to be cut or can drip juice. Stick with safer choices like berries, grapes, mandarin oranges, or apple slices.
4. Limit Alcohol
Most limousine companies allow alcohol to be consumed in the back of the car as long as it's done responsibly. If you have any guests under the age of 21, check with your particular company to determine any additional rules for alcohol usage.
Allowing alcohol in your limo is a personal decision, and no one should feel obligated to do so or to skip it. If you do choose to have wine, beer, cocktails, or champagne, set a limit as to what will be provided in the car.
You don't want to risk your big day by having any attendants get drunk or act inappropriately. And remember that if anyone hasn't eaten properly, their reaction to alcohol could be harsher than normal.
Snacks and beverages in the limousine help everyone enjoy their time in the car and keep you and your guests fed and hydrated. Want more ideas for the limo ride? Call
